EIR
EIR is the goddess of medicine. EIR portrays the knowledge of medicine. She knows all healing herbs and medecines. The statue portrays the transfer of knowledge that was done when people who knew medicine, most often women, walked between farms and helped sick people. Sometimes they had an assistant, sometimes they were alone. EIR holds healing herbs in her right hand (the sun hand.) Her left hand (the moon hand) holds a snake, a token of change, sexuality, and power. In front of her is a bowl for preparation of medicines.
EIR is said to mean peace, help, or mercy.
Examples of places that are named after EIR are:
The Eira School (Stockholm, Sweden); The Eira Hospital (Helsinki, Finland); and Eiravallen, and so on.
