KÅTORP WEDDING
This stonecarving made the year 5286 is a token for many weddings, one of the weddings was also shown on Swedish television the year 5288 ( 1994). The thought comes from Vhitlycke in Tanum (north of Gothenburg, Sweden) but here we have a women a "Gydja" who marries the two. The wedding axe is a holy token. The axe was used to cut down trees and to make field to grow crop. With the axe the harvest eked therefore the axe became a token for wealth and happiness. The round token is the Sun and the spot between her legs is a sign of holiness. The stonecarving belongs to a serie of three, the wedding, the ship to mark the time and the bronzelur player.
