VÅR
VÅR is the Goddess of Promise. VÅR unites men and women in marriage every spring. The symbol of VÅR is the ring, a sign of union.
In Trymskvida in the Edda poems, there are examples of verses that speak
of VÅR as the Goddess of marriage: "But Trym, the Giant King, said:
Now bring in the hammer to marry the bride, put Mjölner in the lap
of the bride, marry us in the name of VÅR." VÅR later in history
means the promise between warrior and commander, that is, faith in
war.
War-rior is thus a person that has promised to be faithful to his leader
or general. Also the russian word Varjag,
comes from the Godess of Promise. Sometimes she is called Vaur.
Places that are named named after VÅR are;
Vårby (Stockholm), Varberg, Vårlunda, Vara and Varde (Esbjerg, Denmark).
